The UK’s top fraud prosecuting agency survived a “sobering” government review but was told to tighten up its investigations to “move on” from the collapse of a high-profile oil bribery case.

A government-requested review of the Serious Fraud Office’s missteps in its Unaoil case said that some of the failures were caused by “cultural issues” in the agency. But the report stopped short of condemning the prosecutor, saying that some of the events were “beyond the control of the SFO or its superintending ministers.”
