Netflix’s ‘The Mother’ starring Jennifer Lopez is a movie about a mother giving up everything in order to protect her only child whom she never met.
The movie arrived on the online streaming platform on May 12. The plot of the story is predictable yet thrilling. The story starts with an FBI safe house where a woman, played by Lopez, who is a lethal ex-military sniper tries to make a deal with officers with information about two dangerous arms dealers in return for her and her unborn child’s safety.

The FBI house soon comes under invasion and she has attacked by the arms dealer Adrian Lovell, who might be the father of her unborn baby as well. In a rift, he despite knowing she is pregnant attacks her causing her to go into labour and give the child to a beautiful baby girl.

In order to protect her newborn, she gives her daughter away for adoption and goes into hiding in the Alaskan wilderness. However, fate has different plans for both mother and daughter as The Mother’s enemies find her daughter 12 years later and she returns to protect her at any cost.
Lopez’s new thriller is exaggerated and predictable from the start but it’s filled with an emotional roller coaster ride. The movie which could have been summed up in 90 minutes or so dragged to almost 2 hours. The Mother is sketchy yet a touch grandiose, and it’s full of tersely dramatized scenes that somehow make the audience familiar motions.
