Police have arrested and charged a man with 39 offences, including rape, torture, strangulation, deprivation of liberty and stalking following a joint operation by detectives from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch and the Sexual Crimes Group into alleged offences committed against four females, aged between 15 and 21.
It will be alleged that a series of offences were committed over a 12-month period between January 2021 and February 2022.
Police will allege the offending involved protracted series of incidents which included stalking, hacking computer devices, accessing social media accounts, breaking into a home and exerting coercive control / threats over the victims.
It will be further alleged that two of the women met the alleged offender whilst he was working as a security guard in the Maroochydore Safe Night Precinct.
All four victims were unknown to each other.
Detectives yesterday executed a search warrant at a Maroochydore address where they arrested the man. He has been denied police bail and remains in custody to appear before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today on multiple charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, strangulation, torture, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, indecent treatment of a child under 16, stalking, extortion, computer hacking, burglary, fraud and stealing.
Operation Uniform Strix was commenced after police received a report through the QPS Alternative Reporting Option (ARO) from one of the women, and subsequent investigations identified the three other victims. This operation remains on-going with detectives appealing for anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact them.
