A ransomware attack occurred recently to the company that sends emails for the Louisville Zoo, according to zoo officials.Officials said that names, email addresses, physical addresses, membership numbers and membership levels were acquired by an unauthorized party as a result of the software attack.The zoo said they only use this service, WordFly, to facilitate email communication with patrons and they do not store any sensitive information such as payment card information.A statement from the zoo read:”Out of an abundance of caution, we wanted to inform you of this incident and remind to you to remain vigilant to the risks of phishing: be cautious of emails, text messages, or phone calls that request that you provide personal information or contain links or attachments, even when originating from trusted individuals or companies. In particular, remain vigilant of any communication referencing your relationship with the Zoo. The Zoo will never ask you to provide payment, financial or other sensitive information by text message, email or telephone. All online donations and payments are directed to a secure website.”They did not say when exactly the software attack occurred.
