Trying to figure out where to start in your career after college is never an easy task, especially for those seeking to work within the cybersecurity field. 

In an attempt to help students plan ahead, the Cybersecurity Club hosted an alumni panel for its meeting on Monday.

The panel included four Bradley graduates, one present in-person and three participated via Zoom, each sharing their cybersecurity career experiences and giving advice to attendees. 

During the meeting, the panelists expanded on their time in cybersecurity, how they acquired their current positions and the challenges they’ve faced along the way. 

At the end of the panel, attendees got the chance to ask the panelists specific questions, ranging from how to find an internship to how to deal with the challenges of landing jobs and working with co-workers. 

“Having [alumni] come in and speak from a variety of perspectives will help them understand how they need to plan their future,” Benjamin Padgitt, Cybersecurity Club president and graduate student in business administration, said.

Attendees were able to learn a lot from the panel and better understand how they can plan their career after Bradley.

“I wanted to hear from the perspective of people who have already started their career of what I might need,” junior and cybersecurity minor Isaiah Martinez said. “I was able to realize it’s all about interpersonal skills and how you communicate with your team.”

The cybersecurity club meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays in BECC room 3170.
