On Monday 22 May, join Whittlesea Community Connections as they cover important Child Safety topics, including:
- The Importance of Reporting and how to do so
- Working/volunteering for a child safe organisation
- How to feel safe working with children
- The Victorian Child Safe Standards
- Why a Working with children check is important

Child harm and abuse can be a difficult topic and may affect people in different ways. Please be mindful that some of the content in this training session maybe confronting.
Please ensure that children and young people are not present whilst you join this training session.
About Child Safety
The City of Whittlesea is committed to being a child safe organisation and has zero tolerance for child abuse. We recognise our legal and moral responsibilities in keeping children and young people safe from harm and promoting their best interests.
Victorian organisations that provide services or facilities to children, such as City of Whittlesea, are required by law to implement Child Safe Standards in order to protect children from harm.
The Standards were established by the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005. The Child Safe Standards are a set of 11 standards that aim to create and maintain child safe environments. Council is required to implement and comply with these Standards.
The Child Safe Standards aim to:
- promote the safety of children
- prevent child abuse
- ensure organisations and businesses have effective processes in place to respond to and report all allegations of child abuse.
