WRPS’ Cybercrime Unit Charges Waterloo Male in Child Pornography Investigation | #cybercrime | #computerhacker


Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has laid charges in relation to a child pornography investigation. 

The investigation began in February 2023, after police received complaints from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre regarding a person possessing and exchanging child pornography.

As a part of the investigation, on April 28, 2023, the ICE Unit completed a search warrant at a residence in Waterloo.

As a result of the investigation, on May 23, 2023, police arrested and charged a 28-year-old Waterloo male with Possession of Child Pornography (two counts) and Make Child Pornography Available.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
