KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A traffic stop ended with a woman from Dunbar in jail on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, child neglect, assault on an officer and attempted battery on an officer, court records said.
Troopers attempted to pull over Caroline Davis, 35, after they noticed her swerving from multiple lanes several times in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 Monday night, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Davis is accused of not stopping at first and then refusing to give troopers her name or her license. The complaint said her children were in the back seat without child safety seats or wearing seat belts.
Troopers said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and found several empty vodka bottles in the car. Davis failed three field sobriety tests and allegedly blew a .242 on the PBT test, the complaint said.
Troopers said the children in the car told them that Davis had hit another car before the traffic stop.
While in custody in a cruiser, troopers said Davis threatened and tried to kick them.
Davis is currently in the South Central Regional Jail on a $6,000 bond.
