Healthcare Workers at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks have voted to go on strike.
It would last for five days starting May 22.
It is part of a labor dispute involving 3,000 workers at five HCA hospitals in California.
The union says 97 per cent of the workers voted to authorize a strike over what they allege are unfair labor practices by the company.
The workers claim short staffing, low wages, and worker and patient safety concerns are the main issues.

Oxnard police say they arrested three people for impaired driving at a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint in that city Saturday night.
OPD and the CHP conducted the checkpoint from 7 PM to 2 AM at Pleasant Valley Road and “C” Street.
In addition to the DUI arrests, 37 citations were issued for various driver’s license and vehicle code violations.

Simi Valley police say they arrested two suspects in connection with an organized retail left operation over the weekend.
Saturday night the suspects grabbed $2000 worth of various fragrances from Ulta Beauty Supply at 1555 Simi Valley Town Center Way and then fled in a black Honda Accord with its license plates covered.
An officer spotted the suspect vehicle eastbound on the 118 Freeway and followed it to North Hollywood where it was stopped and the two suspects, both in their 20’s and from LA County, were taken into custody and booked into the Ventura County Jail.

Narcotics detectives from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties have been busy lately trying stem the tide of illegal drugs, espectially fentanyl.
Three people, two from Simi Valley and one from Moorpark, were arrested recently in three separate incidents involving the sale of fentanyl to individuals who overdosed in Simi Valley in February and March, including one person who could not be revived with Narcan and died.
The suspects, all men ranging in age from 50 to 60, were all booked into the Ventura County Jail and then released.
Meanwhile, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 26-year-old Ojai man for possession of a large amount of illegal drugs including fentanyl, cocaine, meth, oxycodone, and benzodiazepine.
He was arrested after deputies found him overdosed in his car in Carpinteria last month and then searched his car and his home in Ojai.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a woman last week in connection with an incident in Thousand Oaks last month in which she is alleged to have used her car in an aggressive manner causing a crash with another driver.
She then is alleged to have brandished what turned out to be an imitation gun at a witness before fleeing the scene.
Detectives were able to identify and locate the woman using surveillance video and witness statements and she was arrested May 12th.
The 37-year-old Camarillo woman was booked into the Ventura County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, her vehicle, and Brandishing.

A Simi Valley man was arrested Friday for allegedly firing his gun in his home in the 1600 block of Buyers Street.
Police say the 44-year-old man was involved in a verbal argument with his wife when he fired a shot into the ceiling.
He was arrested for Felony Discharge of a Firearm in a Grossly Negligent Manner.

Oxnard police say they cited three store clerks for selling alcohol to minors.
This was result of what’s known as a “minor decoy” operation in which an underage person who is directly supervised by an officer, goes into a retail store and attempts to buy booze.
The Friday operation went to 12 stores in Oxnard and in three of them the clerks sold alcohol to the underage person.
The clerks will be facing a $250 fine and/or 32 hours of community service and the businesses could face sanctions from the Alcohol Beverage Control Board that could range from a fine to suspension or even revocation of their liquor license.

Deputies in Camarillo have arrested two men for allegedly installing skimmers on ATM machines in order to obtain personal information on people using debit and especially EBT or Electronic Benefit Transfer cards used by low income people to buy food and provide for basic needs.
The two suspects, both men in their 20’s from Anaheim, were literally caught in the act of installing the skimming and other devices on ATM’s in the 2000 block of Ponderosa Drive in Camarillo May 10th.
EBT cards are especially vulnerable to this kind of theft of money and personal financial information because they lack much of the security built into other types of debit or credit cards.
Last year along, EBT card theft cost taxpayers in California more than $60 million in losses.

Starting Monday May 15th and then on May 24th and June 2nd Simi Valley police are going to be conducting a seat belt enforcement operation.
They will be looking for drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts and also children who are not properly secured in child safety seats.
Under California law, children under two years old who weigh under 40 pounds or are under 40 inches tall must ride in a rear-facing car seat.
Children under eight years old or under 4 foot 9 inches tall must be secured in a car or booster seat.
