Sustainability: 2021 Commitments and Achievements
Oceans, Crew and Responsible Business are the 3 pillars of Groupe Beneteau’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy. They encompass a dozen of priority CSR* stakes that are detailed in the 2021 Sustainability Performance Report.
* CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility
During FY 2021, Groupe Beneteau targeted progress with taking its sustainable development stakes into consideration in its business strategy and operations. The strategies mapped out through to 2025 with the Let’s Go Beyond! plan now incorporate the CSR action program, which is based around three pillars: Oceans, Crew and Responsible Business.
OCEANS: offering our clients freedom on the water in harmony with nature and acting to preserve marine and aquatic ecosystems
CREW: enabling our employees to reach their potential
RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS: contributing to the common good by acting with integrity and ethics
Groupe Beneteau has given concrete expression to its commitment to sustainable development by becoming a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. The Group is committed to respecting the Ten Principles on Human Rights, International Labor Standards, Environment and Anti-Corruption and to contributing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Each year, Groupe Beneteau releases its Sustainability Performance Report, which is one of the chapters of its Annual Report.
In 2021, the COVID-19, the cyber attack and tensions on supplies have strongly disrupted the Group’s activity. These external factors have also adversely affected the company’s CSR performance on certain indicators.
Despite the events that hampered its sustainability performance (Covid-19, cyberattack, supply chain tensions), the following improvements achieved in 2021 should be outlined:
- TRAINEESHIP : the French entities have gone from 62 to 92 work-study students, i.e. +30% of young people in training inside the Group
- ENVIRONMENT: several product lifecycle analyses have been undertaken for boats and leisure homes. This decision-making tool will enable Product Marketing and Engineering departments to take better account of environmental impacts in the design, manufacture, use and dismantling of products
- PURCHASING: the Group made 40% of its purchases in France from local suppliers
In 2021 and for the first time, Groupe Beneteau communicated on the EU requirement for a Green Taxonomy, which asks to communicate to what extent its activities are associated with economic activities classified as sustainable.
The 2021 Sustainability Performance Report is available in English and French.
