Surface Duo & Surface Duo 2 Get April Android Patch | #android | #security | #hacking | #aihp

Microsoft has rolled out the Surface Duo & Surface Duo 2 April Android patch. The patch doesn’t bring anything notable except a couple of security fixes, but here’s a look at what you need to know if you’re a proud owner of the dual-screen device from Microsoft.

With the Surface Duo, you’ll be seeing software version 2022.115.10. This update addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin for April 2022. It also fixes issues with Miracast, where the external display might be pixelated. The Surface Duo 2, meanwhile, is getting bumped to software version 2022.108.8. It just gets Android security patches, with no new features or bug patches.

As always, you can grab this update by going to Settings, System Update, and then Check for Update. Your device will download and apply the update, and prompt you to restart. Microsoft, though, does note that Surface updates are released in stages so not every Surface will receive updates at the same time.

If you missed it, there recently was a shakeup at Microsoft, where the Surface Duo OS, Swiftkey, Phone Link, Microsoft Launcher were put under one Microsoft Android org. This could mean for bigger updates for the Duo heading into the future.
