South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is hosting the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) Pacific Rim Regional competition today, March 22, until Sunday, March 24.

The event will see eleven teams from colleges in Washington and nearby states participating in challenges tailored to simulate real-world cybersecurity scenarios.

Representing SPSCC at the competition will be the Mad Hatters Club, also serving as the hosting institution.

“It’s an honor to host the CCDC Pacific Rim Regional Competition at SPSCC. This competition highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals,” said Andy Leiren, Professor of Cybersecurity and Network Administration at SPSCC and advisor to the Mad Hatters Club.

The event features challenges during the competition and includes a job fair for participants.

The competition will conclude with an awarding ceremony recognizing the outstanding achievements of the competing teams.

Leiren spoke about the Mad Hatters Club’s preparations, stating, “We have learned a lot since our start and have been hard at work practicing in preparation for these events. Regardless of how we do, it will still be a fun opportunity to practice what we’ve covered in classes and show off our capabilities.”

Due to the sensitive nature of the competition, the contest will be closed to the public.

However, those interested can find more information about the event on the CCDC website.
