Proposal Sent For 6 More Cyber Police Stns In State | Ranchi News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker


RANCHI: In view of the rising cybercrimes in the state, the police department has sent a proposal to the state government for setting up six more cyber police stations in the state, Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP), Ajay Kumar Singh, said on Monday.
The DGP was addressing the inaugural event of the third session of training on ‘Digital Aspects of Investigation’ at Investigation Training Institute, Hotwar. The cyber police stations are functioning in Jamtara, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Giridih, East Singhbhum and Ranchi districts at present.

The DGP said that as the online financial activities are increasing, economic crimes, including cyber crimes, are on the rise.
He said that the digital education of police personnel is essential for solving not only cyber crimes, but also the conventional crimes like murder and extortion. Director General of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anuraag Gupta, said that in future the cyber crime would be more malware based. He said that Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a part of the training while mentioning that notorious criminal Prince Khan is making VOIP calls from foreign country and the police are unable to trace him.
CID SP Kartik S said that since 2016, as many as 7,152 cybercrime cases have been registered in the state out of which over 3,000 are pending. Around 5,000 cyber criminals have been nabbed and more than Rs 2 crore have been recovered from them, he said.
He further said that the CID has referred as many as 33 cases to the Enforcement Directorate for investigation, adding that six FIRs have been registered by the central agency. He said that properties worth Rs 6 crore have been seized under the PMLA Act. He added that an amount of Rs 3.74 crore have been frozen following complaints on the 1930.
He further said that with the passage of time, the cyber criminals are becoming technically sound and their behaviour is changing.
