Police organize cyber crime reel competition in Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar areas | Mumbai News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker


MUMBAI: After going all out to address online crimes, the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) Commissionerate has now set up a separate cyber crime police station and has invited the public to come up with reels that can help control virtual crimes.

A cyber reel competition is being held by MBVV till November 30.

Those residing in the MBVV jurisdiction — 17 police stations — can win prizes by uploading cyber crime awareness reels on www.reelscompetition.com.

The cash prize includes Rs 21,000 (first prize), Rs 15,000 (2nd), Rs 11,000 (3rd) and three consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each.

Those outside MBVV can also participate in the competition, ten of the best reels will get appreciation certificates from the cops.

The best reels will be used to further educate the public on cyber frauds.

The reels have to be on topics like phishing, fake profiles, work from home frauds, online friendship frauds, fake websites, safe banking, social media security, online security, UPI security among others.

In July the MBVV was lauded by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre of the Ministry of Home Affairs for helping a trader recover Rs 33 lakh lost in cryptocurrency.

So far this year, over Rs one crore lost in online frauds has been recovered by the MBVV cops.

Police have been conducting awareness programmes in schools and colleges.
