Bhubaneswar, Sept. 6: Director General of Police(DGP), Odisha Sunil Kumar Bansal on Tuesday inaugurated a 24×7 Cybercrime Helpline & Helpdesk ‘Dial- 1930’ in Bhubaneswar.
The Cybercrime helpline Call Centre & Cybercrime Help Desk was dedicated for the denizens here at the Cyber Complex, Keshari Nagar, Bhubaneswar .
The 1930 Cyber helpline Call Centre cum Help Desk is a facility for the victims of on-line financial frauds. Anyone can dial 1930 for any sort of assistance relating cybercrimes.
The victims can lodge cybercrime fraud complaints by dialing 1930 for immediate assistance to halt the transaction and get back their money. This facilitation centre has got 10 hot lines which are manned by trained police personnel to track and block fraudulent financial transactions at immediate effect.
Dialing to 1930, the call will land at this Call Centre, where trained personnel would attend the call. They will ask relevant questions and simultaneously initiate the process to track the money trail. They will take immediate action to block it and try to revert back the money into victims account.Simultaneously they would also ensure blocking of the IMEI and the SIM used for commission of the offence.
Earlier, the CID-CB was dealing with cybercrime cases. However, the Crime Branch has reverted Rs.1,19,11,478 to the victims’ account in year 2022. It was also successful in blocking Rs.1,58,87,0371 from being siphoned off. With the newly inaugurated facility these figures are likely to go up in the coming days.
After the inauguration CID-CB made a power point presentation about its preparation to deal with cybercrimes. Among others, Director Biju Patnaik Police Academy, Arun Kumar Sarangi, Arun Bothra Addl. DGP, Crime Branch, Shefeen Ahamed K, IG Police, Crime Branch and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.
