NASHIK: The Nashik city police have launched an awareness programme on various aspects of cybercrime and the tactics adopted by cybercrooks to cheat people.
“We have started circulating various slides on social media on cybercrime awareness. This will help people to stay abreast of various things deployed by cyber criminals to either cheat, defame or harass people,” inspector Seetaram Kolhe of the cyber police station said.
Kolhe said short clips are being circulated on WhatsApp groups to create awareness among people.
The cyber police recently circulated a slide related to electricity bill fraud, the type of messages that people get on cellphones regarding the fraud and instructions from the police not click unknown links and make payments only on official platform.
The cyber police also circulated a slide about where a cyber compliant can be lodged along with the helpline number 1930.
Police said that they have also decided to form ‘cyberdoots’ by training a select number of students from schools and colleges on cybercrimes and their prevention. These cyberdoots would in turn educate students of their respective institutions.
