VADODARA: The cybercrime sleuths have arrested two men for threatening and blackmailing a citizen who had taken a loan from a mobile app. The two were nabbed from the National Capital Region (NCR) in Haryana by the cops who had been making efforts to trace them over the last few days.
The police said that Deepak Chaudhary and Sachin Kamat are connected with a Chinese gang that operates instant loan apps and extorts money from people.
“Deepak, a commerce graduate, used to send links of loan apps to the victims with the help of two men from Nepal. He also sent morphed and obscene photos to the victims to blackmail them and extort money,” the police said.
Arun Bam, a resident of Nepal, was in touch with the Chinese gang that had details and contact numbers of the people who took instant loans from the apps.
Another Nepal resident, Bhaskar Saud, used to morph the photos of the victims and send them to Chaudhary.
Kamat would call up the victims, threaten and abuse them to extort money.
The cybercrime sleuths have busted a racket of instant loan in which some Indians have been targeting the needy with the connivance of a Chinese gang and extorting money from them.
