FCC Warns of Hackers Taking Over Cell Phone Accounts – The Presidential Prayer Team | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker | #hacking | #aihp

The agency informed all cell phone service providers of the increased threat.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a warning to cell service providers, informing them of a rise in a hacking strategy that takes over a consumer’s cell phone account.

The Department of Homeland Security released a report in August documenting how hackers now use “fraudulent SIM swaps” to commandeer a person’s cell phone account. Hackers will then extort money from their targets with the promise of returning their data to them.

“Cell phone service providers are high-value targets for cybercriminals and scammers because in many instances they serve as the primary means consumers use today to access their most important and valuable financial and personal information,” said FCC Enforcement Bureau Chief Loyaan Egal.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chair Rosenworcel and members of the FCC as they seek to protect consumers from SIM swapping hacks.
  • For Department of Homeland Security officials as they collaborate with the FCC on cell phone security.
