‘Ending cybercrime is collective responsibility’ | Surat News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker

SURAT: Gujarat’s home minister Harsh Sanghavi launched Cyber Sanjivani 2.0, a campaign by the city police to stop cybercrimes. At the event, the minister said that it a collective responsibility and not just the police’s to end the menace of virtual crimes.

Sanghavi also dedicated two mobile vans and a web portal to the public as a part of the campaign that saw the presence of central minister Darshana Jardosh and ministers Mukesh Patel and Praful Panseriya. Surat police commissioner Ajay Tomar said that Surat police leads in the detection of cybercrimes.
At this event, Jardosh said that Surat has got new tag ‘cyber safe city’. When any city is achieving new heights, it is important that it remains safe too, she said, adding that the city police has ensured city’s safety. Sanghavi said that while the Surat police is pro-active when it comes to detection of cybercrime, people should also use technology only after understanding it. “It is our collective responsibility to control cybercrime. Surat police could succeed in returning Rs 1.02 crore to 124 persons who got cheated online. As elderly people are more prone to cyber frauds, the youngsters should come forward to sensitize them. Everyone should forward the awareness clips made by the Surat police so that people become more aware,” he said.

Sanghavi also suggested that Surat police should create a mechanism where complaint can be registered with one call only.
City police launched two cyber sanjivani mobile vans and a portal – – for people of Surat. The van will stay for one week in each police station of Surat and sensitize people through various activities. It will cover industrial areas, schools, colleges, public places, societies among others. It has audio video learnings along with cyber experts who will teach people on cyber security. People will also be able to visit the portal and take a quiz on cyber security apart from getting other knowledge.
