Cybercrime Victims To Get Refunds | Ranchi News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker

RANCHI: Apart from tracking and arresting cyber criminals, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has also initiated several steps to return the money frozen in the bank accounts of cyber criminals to the victims.
The Union government has provided a helpline number, 1930, for reporting incidents of cybercrime. In case of an illegal transfer of money by cyber criminals, the banks concerned are alerted and they freeze the payee account.
Director general Anurag Gupta on Tuesday said two cases have been filed on a pilot basis in a special court of Ranchi for return of the money through legal recourse. “An FIR has been lodged in one case, but not in the other related to fraud. There are provisions under Sections 451 and 457 of the CrPC for return of the money to the victims,” he stated. The helpline would be made available round the clock . At present, the service is available from 9 am to 6 pm. In case of a cyberfraud after 6 pm, it can be be reported the next day.
