Cybercrime Cops: Cybercrime cops crack firstdigital arrest case, one held | Lucknow News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker

Lucknow: The Lucknow Cyber Crime police on Monday nabbed a miscreant who had ‘digitally arrested’ a woman and had duped her of Rs 85 lakh while impersonating as a CBI officer. This is the first time Lucknow police was able to crack a case involving a miscreant behind ‘digital arrest’ tactics.The accused, identified as Debahsish Rai of Azamgarh, had intimidated the victim saying a cargo booked in her name had been caught during checking and it contained fake passports, some ATM cards and 140 gm of psychotropic substance he named as MDM. The aides of the miscreant took the woman on a call which they later transferred to the miscreant who introduced himself as a CBI officer. The fake CBI officer not only deprived the woman of Rs 85 lakh, but also digitally arrested her.SHO Cyber Cell, Brijesh Yadav said the accused was arrested from Mandakini apartment in Gomtinagar Vistar. During interrogation he told the police that money that he received from the woman was transferred online to other bank accounts. Cheque books, passbooks and other documents and a CPU were recovered from the accused. tnn
