Cyber crimes in other countries entail fine up to $100,000 soms or imprisonment up to 2 years: MP proposes to penalize cyber attacks

AKIPRESS.COM – Parliament committee for transport considered draft law on cyber security in Kyrgyzstan on April 16.

During discussions, MP Eldar Abakirov said that measures for cyber crimes must be envisaged, changes to the Criminal Code and Code of Offenses must be made.

“According to the regulatory impact analysis, cyber crimes in other countries entail fine up to $100,000 soms or imprisonment up to 2 years,” he said.

Cyber attacks occur not only on websites, but personally on any human. “I used to receive messages, after clicking which money was withdrawn. I have personally encountered this. A similar situation was in Kazakhstan a few years ago, there was a big attack on a large bank, people received mass text messages that the bank was about to go bankrupt, take your money. Then people started withdrawing money and indeed the bank almost went bankrupt,” he said.

He asked if the National Security Committee can withstand frequent and massive attacks.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee Abdykadyr Razaev replied that the National Bank lawyers were also involved in the development of the bill. After the bill is enacted, all other questions will be addressed.
