A cyber attack has downed Colorado’s state web portal homepage, colorado.gov, the state announced today.
The attack is currently being attributed to foreign perpetrators, who are targeting other states as well.
“Today, the Colorado.gov State Web Portal homepage was taken offline due to a cyberattack claimed by an anonymous suspected foreign actor that targeted multiple state government services and websites across the United States, according to reports,” the state said in a press release.
Colorado said that only its web portal homepage was impacted, and that the state’s other websites and essential services remain available. The state is taking “security measures” to further safeguard these sites and services.
Colorado’s Office of Information Technology and the Emergency Operations Center are collaborating with state and federal partners to restore colorado.gov but do not yet have a clear timeline for when that may be achieved.
In the meantime, the state launched a temporary version of colorado.gov that directs residents to “the most common online services, including links to specific websites.”
