Chicken on Doorstep and Fraud by General Contractor – Parkland Talk | #phishing | #scams | #hacking | #aihp

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through Aug. 1, 2022.

Burglary Conveyance

Location Redacted

On 07/28/2022, a witness heard a glass break and observed a subject wearing a sweatsuit and a ski mask inside the victim’s vehicle. The witness ran into a business to call 911 and returned, and the subject was gone. Unknown if in vehicle or on foot. Responding units circulated for the subject, with negative results. The loss was a black duffel bag containing a MacBook Air laptop and a pair of headphones. Tot. Est. Loss: $1,350.

Fraud

NW 63rd Way

A 45-year-old female was the victim of Fraud – All Other on 07/27/2022. The Parkland resident hired a general contractor to build an air-conditioned shed in her backyard, paying $39,000. The job stopped six weeks ago and was done poorly. Now the GC refuses to return money. Tot. Est. Loss: $39,000.

Information

NW 112th Ter.

On 07/26/2022, unknown persons left a fully cooked chicken on the doorstep outside the reporting person’s front door.

Trails End

On 07/31/2022, a large group of people were playing on a soccer field and were told by a park ranger that they exceeded the maximum amount of people allowed without a permit. While addressing the issue, the large group surrounded the park ranger’s golf cart and became loud, telling her they won’t leave until they were shown the rules. The park ranger drove out of the area and called BSO.

Retail Shoplifting

Hillsboro Blvd.

On 07/27/2022, a subject removed two TVs valued at $300 and exited through the emergency exit door without attempting to pay.

Theft

NW 65th Ter.

A 67-year-old female was the victim of Theft – All Other on 07/26/2022. The victim witnessed a male driving a white vehicle pull up to her mailbox with the flag up, open the mailbox and take her outgoing mail and drive off. Only one piece of mail containing a check made out to a water company was taken. Tot. Est. Loss: $92.

Ranch Rd.

A 53-year-old female was the victim of Theft – All Other on 07/26/2022. A subject was observed on video surveillance footage removing mail from the victim’s mailbox, placing it into a shopping cart, and walking away. Contact was made with the subject, and mail was recovered and returned to the victim. The victim signed a waiver. Tot. Est. Loss: $1.
