APC calls for Dino’s arrest over cyber crime allegations | The Guardian Nigeria News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has called on security agencies to immediately arrest the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s governorship election, Senator Dino Melaye, for cyber crime.

APC made the call in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Kingsley Fanwo, accusing Melaye of confessing to hacking into the back-end server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during a live television program.

Dino alleged on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ that INEC tampering with the accredited figures of voters in the Kogi Governorship Election results uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal

Fanwo said that Dino’s confession was “like walking into the prison yard and demanding to be locked up”, stating that security agencies had no tedious job to do “on a suspect who confesses to a crime.”

“Dino Melaye has openly confessed that he hacked into the back-end of the Independent National Electoral Commission. He should be arrested and prosecuted for cyber crime,” Fanwo said.

He also accused Dino of making “uncalled for, unethical, and immoral” statements about the INEC Chairman and his children.

“Are Dino Melaye’s children proud of his shameless physical combats on the floor of the National Assembly? Are his children proud of the fact that their mother levelled allegations of physical injuries against their father? Are Dino’s children proud of him?” Fanwo asked..

According to Fanwo, Dino was never a serious candidate in the governorship race and his allegations of election rigging were nothing more than the ranting of a “thoroughly rejected political jobber.”

“We can’t beat a child and expect him not to cry. But we will be magnanimous in victory. Someone who claimed to have boycotted an election is here complaining about the conduct. He was not even at his Polling Unit to vote. How he got over 40,000 votes should be probed.”

APC, however, called on its members to celebrate their victory with moderation and noted the importance of unity in the state.

The party also expressed gratitude to the people of Kogi State for voting for their candidate, Usman Ododo, and pledged to continue providing quality services to the people.
