16 schools in Ahmedabad receive hoax bomb threat, complaint lodged at cybercrime police station | Ahmedabad News | #cybercrime | #computerhacker

A day ahead of polling in all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, 16 schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threat emails on Monday.

According to JCP (Crime Branch) Sharad Singhal, 12 schools in Ahmedabad city and four in Ahmedabad rural jurisdiction received the threat emails around 6 am on Monday. The emails were received from a Russian domain name ‘’.

“The mail contained threats that there would be bomb explosions in the schools,” said Singhal.

Combing operations were undertaken in all the schools and “nothing was found”, added Singhal, terming the threats to be “hoax”. “Emails with similar content were sent to around 150 schools in Delhi on May 1 and similarly nothing was found,” said Singhal.

A crime branch official said the Ahmedabad police are in contact with the Delhi Police. “We started receiving alerts to the control room from the schools between 9 am and 12 pm,” added the official.

Festive offer

An offence has been registered in connection to the bomb threat at a cybercrime police station in Ahmedabad, the details of which are awaited.

Krupaben Jha, the district education officer (DEO) of Ahmedabad Rural, said, “Some private schools received bomb threat emails. Quick action has been taken.”

Eleven of the 12 schools in Ahmedabad city that received the threats are polling centres for the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday.

Among the schools that received the email threats are Army Public School in Shahibaug, ONGC Chandkheda Kendriya Vidyalaya, New Noble School in Naroda, Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sabarmati, Green Lawns School in Vatva, Maharaja Agrasen School in Memnagar, Anand Niketan School in Satellite, Asia English School in Vastrapur, Kalorex Future School in Ghatlodia and Kumkum Vidyalaya in Ghodasar.
